If you are a City of Clermont water customer, you likely have received a letter (see below) notifying you of a sampling issue. Here’s why.
Each year, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) requires the City of Clermont to test its water to make sure it meets the required health standards.
In January, the City was notified results for nitrite/nitrate samples at its water treatment plants were not included in the overall report.
Per policy, the City immediately collected and submitted the missing samples for testing. All of the tests were returned clear and the water remained safe to drink.
Though the City’s water was not impacted, the (FDEP) required notification be sent to all water customers.
We have investigated and determined the error was made when staff transferred the list of numerous required samples from one document to the department’s work calendar and one line was not copied.
We work hard to provide exceptional services to you and we sincerely apologize for this error. To prevent it from happening again, the City has added additional layers of notification, confirmation and review to the sampling process. The schedule of required testing has also been included in the automated work order system.
