Lake County Announces Two New Public Transportation Routes, Celebrates With Free Rides All Day

Lake County, FL - Lake County’s Office of Transit Services is expanding with two new routes. The routes will both begin providing services on December 12. In celebration, rides will be free all day to encourage residents to use public transportation.

  • Route 55: LakeXpress will be taking over weekday commuter service in the Four Corners areas. This service will continue to connect with both LYNX and Citrus Connection, Polk County’s transit program. This service will be operated Monday through Friday by Lake County Transit. Service on holidays and weekends will be provided by LYNX.  The service will operate every 30-minutes between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
  • South Lake Express: LakeXpress will begin offering an express commuter service between the Clermont Park and Ride and the Four Corners area. The commuter route will be called the South Lake Express and will operate hourly on weekdays between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
About 400 households and 1,100 people live within a quarter mile of the limited bus stops along the South Lake Express. Adding additional public transit to the area allows residents to save money at the pump, reduce wear and tear on their vehicle, find and keep employment, and access medical care easier.

In celebration of the new routes, rides on all LakeXpress routes will be free on Monday, December 12. Residents are encouraged to experience public transit for free on this day to see what a great service it is for our community.

Information on both services can be found at www.RideLakeXpress.com or by calling LakeXpress at (352) 742-1940.
