Lake County Changes Curbside Collection Processes, Updates Residents on Collection Delays

In the wake of Hurricane Ian, there have been delays throughout Lake County for yard, vegetative, and solid waste pickup. In response to these interruptions, the county is immediately implementing several process changes. Residents were informed of the changes Friday evening.

Yard Waste and Hurricane Debris Update:

All hurricane debris will be collected by the end of November

Beginning next week, the number of hurricane debris crews deployed across the County will quadruple for faster pickup times

Haulers have resumed regular yard waste collection and will now pick up material in bags and containers

Tipping fees are waived for large residential yard waste items through the end of November

Looking to the future, the County will deploy debris contractors sooner and with larger crews

Solid Waste Update:

The County has reached out to partners for supplemental assistance with curbside collection

This assistance may mean that different haulers pass through your neighborhood or that solid waste is picked up on an irregular schedule

Customers are asked to leave their carts out if a pickup is missed so that crews can correct the issue as quickly as possible

We will continue to communicate regularly with our contractors and uphold delay fees

A phone bank has been set up so that our teams can assist more callers and cut down wait times

The County is updating internal processes to ensure smoother contract hauler transitions and identify solutions to these challenges in the future

The County’s top priority is providing reliable services to its customers. Customers are encouraged to report collection issues to the Solid Waste call line at 352-343-3776 or by emailing garbagecollection@lakecountyfl.gov
