The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball team visited the City of Wildwood Recreation Department earlier in September. The team spent the day with the Wildwood Little League teaching and playing baseball with them.
The campers were split into groups and stations were set up to work on basic fundamentals of the game. The kids were given the opportunity to work on throwing, baserunning, hitting and fielding.
Later in the day, some competition was mixed in to give the campers the chance to apply what they had learned during throughout.
Head baseball coach Rich Billings is always looking to take advantage of the opportunity to help out local youth baseball programs in Lake and Sumter counties with the team.
"It's great for our players because they get to interact with the kids in our community and it shows them the impact and the impressions they leave on young lives," said Coach Billings.
