The City of Clermont continues to clean up after wind and rain, but no serious damage, was left behind by Hurricane Ian.
“We received numerous calls regarding downed trees and power lines and some reports of minimal structural damage to homes and businesses, but fortunately, no one was seriously injured,” Clermont’s Assistant Fire Chief and Emergency Manager Bill Harrison said. “Clermont was extremely lucky with this storm.”
Clermont City Manager Brian Bulthuis agreed. “We were prepared, activated our emergency operations, took the warnings seriously and escaped serious damage,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the other areas of Florida that took the brunt of this storm.”
Once the storm passed, Public Services employee began removing downed trees and clearing streets. Some areas of the City remained without power Friday afternoon, but power companies were working in the area.
Garbage/recyclables and debris collection continued Friday and crews will work throughout the weekend. As a reminder, please place storm debris, no longer than 48 inches long, by the curb without blocking the street or driveways.
Waterfront Park, including the boat ramp has reopened. The remaining City parks will stay closed until storm debris can be removed.
Clermont City Hall and other facilities will reopen on Monday morning.
