Golf Classic Makes Successful Return

2

Lake Sumter State College issued the following announcement on Oct. 7.

Over 80 golfers teed off at Harbor Hills Golf and Country Club for the 22nd annual Lake-Sumter State College Athletics Department golf outing. The event is designed to help student-athletes at LSSC with books, tuition and athletic program needs.

The team of Dar-Shackow Insurance took home first place in this year's tournament. They were followed by Team Roudabush and R.O.W. Maintenance in second and third place respectfully.

Other events that took place included the Harbor Hills Longest Drive contest, which was won by David Dalfonso and Donna McClymonds. Gus "Shooter" Grizzard took the top spot in the Closest to the Pin challenge. Finally, this year's Putting Contest champion was Matt Burgess.

This year, the event brought in over $60,000 that will go directly to the LSSC Athletics' Department for their student-athletes. We would like to thank our presenting sponsors, Marian S. Shuck Scholarship Trust, Roy and Ruth Ryan Foundation, Inc. and the Earl and Sophia Shaw Charitable Trust. A special thank you to Miss Karen Bent.
