City of Tavares issued the following announcement on Dec. 13.

A ceremonial ribbon-cutting with residents from nearby neighborhoods occurred on December 13th. City of Tavares Councilmember’s were joined by those who were instrumental 

in this successful project. Tavares Mayor Lori Pfister addressed the audience of more than 60 golf carts from neighborhoods across Tavares and thanked Lake County Florida Vice-

Chairman District 3 Commissioner Kirby Smith, State Representative Keith Truenow, and FDOT Central Florida District Five Secretary Jared Perdue who were instrumental and 

present to commemorate this milestone.

After much work by City of Tavares – America’s Seaplane City staff and elected officials, the application to permit golf carts to now cross 441 at St Clair Abrams was reviewed by 

multiple levels at the Florida Department of Transportation, and this 1st of its kind of crossing in the State of Florida was approved. The City has installed golf cart signs at the 

intersection with special thanks to Lake County Traffic Engineering.
