City of Leesburg issued the following announcement on Feb. 24.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) currently has a project underway in Leesburg from Griffin Road north to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Below is the most recent information on the project status.  Please note the link for the project webpage for future reference to find the most current information.

FDOT UPDATE:

Subject: Financial Project ID: 443546-1  –  US 441 from Griffin Road to MLK Blvd.

Work Description: Inside travel lanes and medians on U.S. 441 northbound and southbound from Martin Luther King Jr. to Griffin Road will be closed beginning Monday, February 28, 2022.

Work will consist of resurfacing, as well as installing curb and traffic separators within the median area.

Median and lane closures will be in effect until median work is completed.

Signage and traffic control devices will direct drivers through the remaining open lanes during these closures.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution and avoid distractions while driving through the work zone.

Please note that construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
